The Royal School Haslemere, located on Farnham Lane in Haslemere, Surrey, has a rich history that spans nearly two centuries. Originally founded in 1840 as The Royal Naval School, it educated the daughters and sisters of naval and marine officers. Over the years, The Royal School Haslemere evolved through significant changes. In 1995, it merged with The Grove School to form the current institution. Later, in 2011, it became co-educational, welcoming both boys and girls. By 2019, the school joined United Learning, reflecting its commitment to modern education standards.
Despite its royal patronage and long-standing reputation, The Royal School Haslemere faced increasing financial pressures in the 2020s. Declining pupil numbers and rising operational costs forced United Learning to announce the school’s closure in February 2025. The school officially closed on August 31, 2025, marking the end of nearly 200 years of continuous educational service.

HRH The Princess Royal, who had long supported the school, also highlighted the significance of the closure.
