The plan included new housing while keeping only the gate lodge. However, local residents opposed the proposal. In 2025, a local educational trust purchased the property. They submitted a pre-planning application for a new school on the site. This change indicates a shift toward educational use. Consequently, the site’s legacy may be preserved while adapting it for modern needs. Additionally, the neighbourhood development plan highlights the site’s potential for redevelopment. It also notes previous planning permission for housing development.
The convent’s chapel is recognized for its architectural significance. In fact, it was recommended for local listing in 2021. This highlights the community’s interest in preserving the building’s historical and architectural value.
